Sounds Good Choir is a nonprofit organization with two incredible choral programs. Sounds Good is Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults 55+. It's fun, good for you (health and well-being benefits are associated with singing in a group), and we're a warm, welcoming community of people who love to sing. Good Memories is the only choir in Illinois for persons with early-stage dementia and their care partners to sing together. The lively, fun, and supportive program is designed especially for those with memory loss. Trained volunteers assist. Both programs are led by professional conductors who are experts in the training of the older adult voice and each session concludes with a free, public concert by each choir.

Seniors from the Oak Park Arms filled Easter eggs with candy in preparation for an intergenerational Easter egg hunt with kids from Kindness Creators preschool at the Oak Park Arms Senior Living Community.
“Each year our residents look forward to the intergenerational Easter Egg Hunt with their preschool friends,” said Renee Steingard, director of leasing and resident engagement at the Oak Park Arms. “Filling the eggs with candy has become a fun social precursor to the egg hunt.”
Although it is unclear where exactly the egg hunt tradition stems from, eggs and bunnies are symbolic of spring and rebirth. Birds tend to lay their eggs in the spring, and rabbits are very fertile animals whose babies are known to scurry about this time of year.
Just as these symbols have turned into tradition, the intergenerational egg hunt has become an anticipated event within the community.
Kindness Creators Intergenerational Preschool is a private, Intergenerational Program that offers a unique opportunity for younger and older generations to interact and build meaningful relationships through a balance of free play, exercise, social learning, and academics.
Oak Park Arms Senior Living, 408 S. Oak Park Avenue, Oak Park, is a rental retirement community that provides senior housing in the form of independent living. Dr. Gloria Groom will give us a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges in putting together an exhibition. She will explore the thesis of the exhibition and offer new insights into the Caillebotte's sense of brotherhood—the importance of belonging that Caillebotte experienced with the friends, family and others who made up his world.

The Village of Oak Park, Illinois, is turning concrete into creativity, and is looking for artists to help.
The Oak Park Area Arts Council is bringing back its Mini Murals program — using vibrant works of art to transform the dull railroad walls along the Chicago Transit Authority Green Line, which traverses the village near Lake Street.
Selected artists will get $750 upfront for supplies, and another $750 when the mural is complete.
The Mini Murals project began in 2010 to promote creative expression and improve aesthetics. Murals have already been painted on the train line embankments along North and South boulevards at Oak Park Avenue near the Green Line stop, and both east and Marion Street.
Murals have also been painted on the embankment along South Boulevard east of Taylor Avenue and west of Lombard Avenue.
The ultimate goal is to have murals painted on the embankment for the entire width of Oak Park, from Austin Boulevard on the east to Harlem Avenue on the west.
The next round of submissions opens in late May.
